This is one of the reasons we encourage our patients to visit our office for routine oral hygiene examinations and cleaning appointments. During these visits, we thoroughly clean your teeth and look for problems that can interfere with your oral health. Unfortunately, even if we look closely at the surface of your teeth and gums, we don’t get a true picture of what is happening with your oral health. Because your teeth have so many layers, it is extremely important that we see what is happening inside the tooth as well as your jawbone. This is why we always encourage our patients to receive X-rays any time they come to our office for an oral hygiene examination.
